Amazing rental, all around If you are staying in the area, you must stay here. The family is so lovely, they met us to check in and to check out, to make sure we knew everything we needed about the property. Not only can you pick all the vegetables and fruits on the property, but you can fetch fresh eggs every day from the chicken coop. It was so fun for my city-kid 5 year old twin boys. The pool was great, as was the game room, my boys didn't ask about a screen once. It's in a great location to explore Douro Valley as well. This is a must-stay if you'll be in Douro Valley, I wish we would have spent more of our trip here.

Great place to stay in the Douro Valley This was a beautiful house with gorgeous views, a refreshing pool (although a little cold at first, but no complaints), access to fresh veggies from the garden and eggs from the chicken coop. We loved our stay at Guilhermina’s house. We were greeted at the property by her son Pedro, who provided a complete tour of the house and property before Guilhermina joined us. He showed us where everything could be found, how to use the dish washer and washing machine, and where to find fresh vegetables and eggs. They even provided a bottle of their property wine and a local loaf of bread. We took them up on several of the restaurant and winery recommendations as well. I would definitely stay here again if we ever get a chance to return to the region, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay in the valley.

Special Organic Farm What a fantastic location and property in the Douro Valley. The views across the river are amazing. This is a fully functioning organic farm. We collected fresh eggs, berries and other fruit, potatoes, onions, etc. The host has done an amazing job remodeling an original rock house with a completely modernized interior. We highly recommend this property.

Beautiful Getaway We loved our stay at this wonderful Quinta and wouldn't hesitate to come bac!. It has the most amazing views... Pictures do not do it justice. We were here in early April and enjoyed the start of spring with lots of beautiful flowers and delicious fresh oranges (and fresh eggs straight from the chicken coop!). The home is spacious and has lot of storage and all kinds of extras. As a family we loved playing pool and having a big telescope to view night sky was a huge hit! The pool was still quite chilly but some of us got in on a beautiful 78f sunny day. We grilled outside on the open fire most nights. It was a great base to explore the Douro Valley along with day trips to Porto and Pinhao. Our hosts Pedro and Guillermo were wonderful to work with and very responsive to any of our questions. I would highly recommend staying here and hope to come back some day!

Magical! Wonderful location. The surroundings of the house are lovely with so many nice corners to enjoy. Calme avec vue sur le Douro Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour à la Quinta da Portinha. Le lieu est idéal pour des vacances calmes et reposantes. Le cadre est magnifique, avec une vue splendide sur le Douro, entouré de nature et de tranquillité. La piscine et les extérieurs constituent un véritable havre de paix. Nous avons également beaucoup apprécié l’accueil chaleureux et la disponibilité des hôtes. Une adresse que nous recommandons sans hésiter à ceux qui recherchent sérénité et détente.

Great escape! This property was such a perfect relaxing escape for us. The grounds were beautiful with grapevines, vegetables, fruits, and stunning flowers we were able to enjoy this spring. Guillermina and her family made sure we had everything we needed and answered our questions quickly . She gave us great recommendations for shops and and restaurants. The views were breathtaking, their wine delicious and the pool was gorgeous. We feel so lucky to have spent April at Quinta da Portinha

A Splendid Holiday I am normally loathe to give superlative evaluations on vacations homes, because there are always issues, big or small, which prevent such assessments. The stay at Sao Tome de Covelas, hosted by Guilhermina Castro, is the exception. For anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful, relaxing and comfortable holiday at a functioning and fully equipped farm house and farm ensconced in winding hills, with a panorama to take your breath away, this is the place for you. This is a rare case of advertising pictures not being able to reflect the beauty of the place. We took long walks in the hills, savoured the house wine and enjoyed visits to communities. and cities, nearby and far. The house is equipped with all amenities and supplies - including a greeting basket of fresh vegetables - ensuring that one is immediately comfortable and feels at home. What to say of the hosts? Guilhermina and her son Pedro were without fail, present, helpful, courteous and gracious, making this one of the best, if not the best, holiday we have ever had. I write this review with some trepidation, for I fear that the next time we will want to visit the premises will be fully booked. Nevertheless, noblesse oblige, I must assert: this is a marvellous place to stay, in the care of hosts that will do the utmost to make your experience worthwhile.

Alles wat je wil Een geweldig huis met een adembenemend zicht op de Douro. 's Ochtends pluk je de appelsienen vers van de boom naast de ontbijttafel om ze te persen voor het ontbijt. Voor een vers eitje erbij maak je een kleine ochtendwandeling door de wijngaard naar de kippenren. Onderweg kan je de sla en de tomaten plukken voor bij de lunch of het diner. Afkoelen kan bij het zwembad terwijl je af en toe een cruiseboot ziet passeren onder je. Even ontspannen met een potje tafelvoetbal of een rondje poolbiljart kan ook in het poolhouse. 's Avonds kan je de maan zien opkomen van achter de bergpas aan de overkant van de vallei. De gastvrouw en gastheer zijn enorm vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Niet twijfelen!

Vista arrebatadora sobre o Douro Um espaço muito agradável, com uma vista arrebatadora sobre o rio Douro, ao final da tarde, com o sol a pôr-se e o Rio “aos nossos pés “ é lindoI... O verde da quinta, o silêncio apenas cortado pelo chilrear dos passarinhos e o som da água a correr nas bicas, tudo se conjuga numa perfeição. Numa palavra: imperdível!...

Belle ferme avec vue incroyable sur le Douro Nous avons passé de très Belles vacances dans cette belle maison . Accueil exceptionnel des propriétaires qui nous ont donné toutes les informations pour passer un très beau séjour. La ferme est très agréable et fonctionnelle avec une vue à couper le souffle. Nous avons pu nous servir des légumes et fruits de la ferme ainsi que des œufs frais . La climatisation dans les chambres est un vrai plus. L’emplacement est idéal pour se rendre dans le vignoble où à Porto.Je conseille fortement cette location.

Un magnifique endroit Nous avons passé un séjour de rêve! L’endroit est paradisiaque, la vue à couper le souffle! La maison est très équipée et les hôtes d’une très grande gentillesse. Nous avons prévu de revenir car 10 jours n’ont pas suffit! Nous avons aimer aller chercher les œufs le matin et aller chercher les légumes pour faire une ratatouille maison!! Wunderbarer Ausblick Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt. Der Ausblick ist der Hammer! Guilhermina ist eine perfekte Gastgeberin. Gerne kommen wir wieder!

Soberbo Eu e a família adorámos a casa. A localização, a vista!!! De dia de noite, é incansável olhar. A piscina, com horizonte para o Douro e a outra margem. A casa estava imaculada de limpa. Tudo nos aguardava. As toalhas para o banho devidamente acondicionadas, as camas. a cozinha. Na envolvência da habitação, árvores de fruto e horta para podermos apanhar e comer … Referir ainda que todos os quartos têm ligação a um terraço comum com vista panorâmica sobre o Rio Douro e a outra margem (Resende). Notar ainda que na sala, há disponível TV cabo com diversos canais, jogos de mesa (pictionary, scrabble, monopoly, mikado, dominó e tantos outros), que fazem a delícia de crianças e adultos. Deixo para o fim uma outra dependência que se encontra a caminho da piscina, onde se encontra a mesa de snooker, de matraquilhos e dardos. Em qualquer altura do ano, é óptima altura para estar. De notar ainda, que para além de termos sido muito bem recebidos pelos proprietários, ainda tiveram o cuidado de informar de restaurantes perto, os quais eram de facto fabulosos. "Camponês", "Tasquinha do Fumo"; "Alpendre". Vamos querer voltar seguramente! Foi a primeira vez, e manifestamente inesquecível.

Spectacular! We had a "too brief" stay here with our two adult children and one of their partners. We were blown away by the views as soon as we arrived! They definitely lived up to the pictures on the listing. Guilhermina and Pedro were very quick to respond to any questions and Alexandra did an excellent job introducing us to the property, with Pedro on speakerphone to explain everything in English. We really enjoyed picking and eating fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden and even retrieved a few eggs from the hen house. We would LOVE to return one day for a longer visit!

Paradies in den Weinbergen Guilhermina hat mich und meine Familie mit viel Freundlichkeit empfangen und sich die Zeit genommen uns durch ihr herrliches Haus/Garten zu führen. Als begeisterte Gärtner haben wir uns direkt aufgehoben gefühlt und auch während unseres Aufenthalts hat uns Guilhermina unterstützt Unternehmungen zu planen. Das Haus ist ein Traum und hatte für alle Familienmitglieder was zu bieten: sei es die Sonnenterrasse für die morgendliche Yogastunde meiner Schwester, der Ausblick in das Duoro-Tal zum Träumen für meine Eltern oder der Pool zum Sonnenbaden für mich. Selbst bei regnerischem Wetter konnten wir uns toll erholen. Danke für alles!

Incredible We completely enjoyed our stay in this house. I need to start with the view. It is one of the most amazing views I have ever seen in my life. You will not want to leave the house! The house is very well equipped. The owners are extremely nice. Excellent communication. The food from the garden was such a treat. We would love to return for a longer period of time.
